It’s almost Ash Wednesday and if you haven’t already it’s time to start discerning what this year’s Lent will look like for you. But before you jot down an item or two under prayer and fasting and maybe something under almsgiving and call it good, stop and pray. What might be the guiding principle of your Lent? Is He asking you to pick up a small habit or two, knowing how the rest of your life is right now? Is He asking you to rest and trust Him more? The Church has been living Lent for almost two thousand years. The saints and the scriptures give us some wisdom to consider as we prepare to begin this year’s journey towards Easter.
