Ohio government seeks to shut down Catholic-run nursing home amid ‘widespread care failures’

TheattorneygeneralofOhioismovingtoshutdownaCatholic-runnursinghomeamidreportsthatthefacilityisplacingelderlyresidentsin“clearandpresentdanger.” HouseofLoreto,anursingfacilityrunbythesistersoftheCongregationoftheDivineSpirit,hasallegedlycommitted“widespreadcarefailures,”AttorneyGeneralDaveYost’sofficesaidinaJan.13pressrelease. Thesistershavebeeninvolvedwiththehomesince1957,whenthen-YoungstownBishopEmmetWalshaskedforthereligioustorunthefacility.Thecurrentfacilityopenedin1963.
