ThestronggenerationaldivideinpoliticalviewsamongCatholicpriestsintheUnitedStateswasreaffirmedina2025surveythatshowsyoungerpriestsarefarmoreconservativethanolderpriests.
TheNationalStudyofCatholicPriests,publishedonOct.14,wascommissionedbyTheCatholicProjectatTheCatholicUniversityofAmericaandconductedbyGallup.ResearcherssurveyedthesamepriestswhoweresurveyedinTheCatholicProject’s2022surveytoexaminetheU.S.priesthood.
Accordingtothereport,the2025survey“closelymirrors”thefindingsin2022andshows“acleargenerationalshiftawayfromliberalself-identification.”
About51%ofpriestsordainedin2010orlatersaidtheirpoliticalviewsareeitherconservativeorveryconservative.Another37%saidtheywere
