FamilieswhosechildrenhavedisabilitiesandCatholicswithdisabilitieswerewelcomedbytheDioceseofArlingtonMarch15tothefourthannual“FromInclusiontoBelongingConference”whichfocusedonplansforthefutureasthosewithdisabilitiesprepareforadultlifeoutofhighschool.
“TheLord,forus,isonewhowillalwaysbetheretostrengthenus,tohealus,andtohelpus,”BishopMichaelBurbidgesaidinhisopeningremarksattheconference,heldatBishopIretonHighSchoolinAlexandria,Virginia.
Withmorethan200peopleinattendance,thediocesanconferencefeaturedanarrayoftalks,inEnglishandSpanish,aboutresourcesforchildrenwithintellectual,emotional,andphysicaldisabilities.Theseincludedtipsforlifeskills,faithformation,education,andemployment,whichwerepresentedtoparents,teachers,priests,andothers.
