AftertheArchdioceseofPhiladelphiafoundthat83%ofbaptizedCatholicsaremissingfromthepewsinthearchdiocese,ArchbishopNelsonPérezdecidedtolaunchamissionaryoutreachprograminhisarchdioceseto“invitepeoplehome.” Thenumberof“missingCatholics”isbasedonMasscountattendancedatacompiledeachyearbythearchdiocese.(ThenumberrelatesonlytotheArchdioceseofPhiladelphia.) Pérezislaunchinga10-yearmissionaryendeavortobringCatholicsbacktothepewsbyimplementing“missionaryhubs”inmanyparishesinthearea.ThemissionaryhubsaredesignedtoworkwithexistingparishesandministriesbyprovidingadditionalresourcestoministertothosewhohavelefttheChurch.
